Signia Hearing Aids

Signia is the latest brand from Sivantos Group, parent company to some of the most popular hearing aid brains on the market (Siemens, Rexton, A&M, and Audio Service). As of 2015, Signia is co-branded with Siemens, the innovators behind the binax, the world’s first hearing aid to outperform normal hearing. Signia is committed to changing lives through innovative hearing instruments, building upon and improving technology of Siemens.

Primax – New Technology built Upon the Siemens binax Platform

Signia makes its debut on the hearing aid market with the Primax, a premiere hearing instrument boasting the most advanced technology from Sivantos Group. Built upon the success of the Siemens binax, Primax offers a hearing experience that outperforms normal hearing in challenging environments and a clinically-proven reduced listening effort throughout the day.

In 2015, the University of Northern Colorado produced a study on speech testing using Primax hearing aids. Participants experienced a significant reduction in listening effort due to two main features of the Signia Primax: SpeechMaster and EchoShield.

SpeechMaster – Improved Speech Recognition

With hearing loss, speech recognition becomes a major challenge. Those with hearing loss may complain that they are able to hear – but not understand. Speech recognition becomes increasingly difficult in spaces such as busy restaurants and public transportation hubs, where background noise interferes with conversation.

To address this issue, Primax is equipped with the SpeechMaster feature. SpeechMaster is designed to reduce background noise while providing wearers with the flexibility to focus on the conversations and speakers they wish to hear. SpeechMaster combines noise reduction, directionality, and steering amplification with SoundSmoothing to balance sounds in any environment. The result is improved speech recognition and an overall ease in the listening experience. Powered by a collection of algorithms, SpeechMaster reduces the listening effort for wearers.

EchoShield

Primax’s EchoShield feature eliminates reverberations and protects sounds in particularly difficult acoustic spaces, such as hallways, lecture halls, places of worships, and atriums. In these cavernous spaces, people with hearing loss may struggle with conversation and locating sound. EchoShield preserves the sounds wearers wish to hear and softens sounds to prevent over-amplification, providing a comfortable listening experience. EchoShield contributes to a reduced listening effort provided by the Primax by balancing out loud, reflected sounds and protecting softer sounds.

Other Innovative Primax Features

For music lovers, Primax is equipped with HD Music. HD Music offers three settings to enhance the listening experience: “Live Music,” for any concert, indoor or out; “Recorded Music” for listening in the home; and a specialized “Musician” setting for music lovers who also play music.

Additionally, Primax is equipped with wireless accessibility through the TwinPhone feature. This hands-free feature uses a magnetic connection to the smartphone, allowing Primax wearers to stream conversations directly to their ears. This reduces the listening effort by preventing feedback that commonly occurs with phone conversations.

Styles & Other Features

Primax hearing aids are available in receiver-in-canal, behind-the-ear, or in-the-ear wearing styles. Designed to treat varying degrees of hearing loss, Primax is available in 7px, 5px, and 3px performance levels. The Primax is available in the following styles: Ace Primax, Pure Primax RIC, Motion Primax standard BTE, and Insio Primax ITE.

Primax also treats single-sided hearing loss with CROS/BiCROS hearing aid styles. The CROS Pure transmitter wirelessly transfers sounds from the hearing aid side to the unaided ear, simulating a binaural hearing experience.

The Primax is easily controlled through the touchControl app and remote control, and through smartphones with the easyTek app. Primax hearing aids also offer tinnitus therapy (static noise and ocean wave sounds).
